About Us

It was just 36,525 days ago that something very unique happened in Jackson, MS. The prayers and vision of a group of people came into fruition as what was designed to be called the Third Baptist Church was constituted in South Jackson. When the Griffith family gave the land and pledged the enormous sum of one thousand dollars for the building of a church the congregation changed the proposed name to Griffith Memorial Baptist Church to honor the generous contributions of the Griffith Family.

That was a hundred years ago-yes, 36,525 days - and now by the grace and blessing of the Lord, we are in our centennial year. From a small building where a school now sits, to a wooden-frame church at 514 West Silas Brown, to the columned, brick edifice that still sits in that location, the five modern interconnected buildings that fill acres of land at 5275 Terry Road, Griffith Memorial stands as a testimony to the faithfulness of God and the obedience of His people.
